Compassionate psychological therapy for adults

Evidence-based therapy to help you understand difficulties, navigate life’s challenges and move towards a more fulfilling life.

Areas I can support you with

People seek therapy for many different reasons. I offer support with a range of psychological difficulties, including:

Depression, low mood and burnout

Persistent low mood, exhaustion or a sense of losing direction can make everyday life feel heavy. Therapy can help you understand what may be contributing to these experiences and begin to move forward.

Anxiety-related difficulties

Anxiety can take many forms, including excessive worry, panic, obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviours. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and develop ways of responding that feel more manageable.

Trauma and PTSD

Traumatic experiences can continue to affect how we think, feel and relate to others long after they have happened. Therapy can support you to process these experiences safely and begin to regain a sense of stability.

Life transitions and difficult experiences

Major life changes, loss or challenging experiences can disrupt our sense of direction and meaning. Therapy can help you make sense of these experiences and begin to move forward with greater clarity.

About Egret Psychology

Egret Psychology is the independent practice of Dr Anthony Redhead, a Clinical Psychologist based in Durham, with over 15 years’ experience working in NHS and specialist psychological services.

I offer thoughtful, compassionate therapy for adults, drawing on a range of evidence-based psychological approaches. Therapy is tailored to each person’s experiences, values and goals.

How I work

I aim to create a space where people feel able to explore difficulties openly and at their own pace. Together we work to understand the patterns that may be maintaining distress, while also identifying strengths, values and possibilities for change.

Therapy is collaborative and thoughtful, balancing careful understanding with practical steps towards living in a way that feels more meaningful and sustainable.

As a clinical psychologist, my work is grounded in psychological theory and evidence-based approaches. Where helpful we may draw on specific models of therapy, but the focus is always on developing an understanding of your individual experiences and tailoring the work in a way that fits you.
